Literature Text

Broken girl,
Shattered girl.

Pieces scatter,
She cries no more.
Heart of ice,
Surrounded by unbroken concrete.

Harsh words,
Loneliness,
Feeling like the only person in the world
Who cared,
Who feels dead inside.
Nothing left inside,
No more warmth,
No more love,
No more kindness to give
And unable to receive it.

Broken girl,
Shattered girl,
You'll cry again.
Tears of joy,
Tears of pain.
Every emotion still rages within.
Not broken,
Not shattered,
But simply too much to deal with.

Icy heart,
Concrete barrier,
Harsh words.

Ice melts,
Seeds are planted,
And concrete, so tough and strong,
Turns fragile as an eggshell,
Broken up with growth.
Harsh words hide the meaning behind.

Lonely no more,
You're living again.
Finding emotion again,
Acceptance is oh so difficult,
But you can manage,
Just as everyone else does.

Learn that you're not the only one
Who cared,
Who cares,
Who's lonely,
Who feels so empty,
Like there's nothing left.
Because you see,
Nothing can come from nothing,
There has to always be something there.
What's inside isn't some broken mirror,
Some chunk of crystal someone hacked to pieces.
What's inside is emotion,
Good and evil,
Conflicting always.
There can always be love.
Love can't just go away,
Won't just leave you.
There is always that memory of love.
Kindness is inside everybody,
The capacity to love,
The capacity to hate.
The capacity to break,
The capacity to heal.

Broken girl,
Shattered girl,
Not the only girl
Who just wants to feel whole.
