Suffocation

Blackness.
I can't move, can't speak.
Only my heart is beating
And my lungs expanding, contracting
Sanctuary in those rhythms.
But the blackness is suffocating me
I move my arm
Move it back
Because I fear what I'll touch.
I close my eyes
Open them again with hopelessness ruling my vision
Because all I can see
Is darkness.
The all encompassing darkness
Where the silence is loud
And it feels like light never existed.
It's more than black
A mere shade.
It's more than darkness
The mere absence of light.
It is a cloak of suffocation
Of despair
Of hopelessness.
It is a cloak of insanity
That I am surrounded by
For it will drive me insane
To be left alone with only my thoughts
My thoughts ruled by the abyss I am surrounded by.
There will be no light shining through.
There will be no ray of hope
No voice calling out.
Nobody knows I am here
Because I am the cloak.
