a single strumming note
A voice not understood
meant to be felt
to reverberate inside ribcages
where tears fall from hearts-
not eyes.
Beyond the understandable
leaving behind a sense of
sadness and grief surpassing
the barrier of a foreign language
because sadness is multilingual.
The guitar chords are a backdrop
the primal thrum for a primal feeling
each word flows to the next
following a rhythm all their own
a letter to an anonymous receiver.
Deep inside
behind the left ribcage
something is thumping and
with every inhale
is an exhale of a word
that has only one meaning

Brief Considerations
I have briefly considered burning.
Though always smouldering,
there was never quite a flame,
so to speak.
I have always been more
like a dim light,
glaring from a distance.
After lengthy consideration,
it has been decided that the
acrid stench would do me
no favours.
I have grown to accept
that I am no star,
no source of light
for the malcontent.
I am just one small light,
flickering, wavering,
barely existing;
Yet I carry on
and that is good enough
for now.

let me rot in this "shithole" existence
